Week 3 was not the across the board point explosions that we saw the previous week. Instead injuries started popping up and studs became duds in an instant. We had a couple blow outs, a couple close calls and one of the closest finishes in a matchup I have ever seen.
Rock Chalk vs. Blame it on the Henny – Rock Chalk fell 2 short of triple digits this game and unfortunately played against another triple digit opponent. Henny went from averaging 80 points a week to drop 111 and secure a big W. Before the game I told Henny it would all come down to how Matthews and Tolbert shook out and that became all too true has Matthews scored 23 more points. Addai over Tolbert and Nelson over Nicks would have helped give RC the win, but of course Henny could have played the same game and simply started Greene over Benson (which he may have to moving forward with the suspension looming). By far the most points scored between two teams and all Rock Chalk can do is blame in on the Henny. (As commish I get to rant a little bit more and since I am averaging both scoring the most points per game (107) and getting scored on the most (110) and find myself at 1 – 2, you all can suck it)
A Team Named Suh vs. Who Got the Key to My Cage? – Tthis one appeared to be a little closer earlier on but as soon as McFadden touched the field and dropped 29 it was all over with Cage rolling to his first victory. Mike Wallace slapped an additional 20 on Sunday night and ol’ Rexy added the final dip of sweetness and dropped Suh hard. Suh lost Gates before kickoff and then Kenny Britt for the year just after the start of the early games so a depleted team in the lineup for sure. Suh might be scrambling for some live players after this week and trying to get back on the 100 point track he was on coming in.
Jayhawk Nation vs. Rusty Trombone – Tom Brady is keeping Nation afloat these days. This was a close game all day and Plaxico caught a late TD strike for 8 points that made a huge difference in the final outcome. Rusty is finding picking the correct starting RB to be much harder than one would expect. A week after benching Turner and playing the goose egg from LT he switched his lineup only to watch Turner get 2 while LT piled up 20 on the bench. That move alone would have secured a W for Trombone. Sidney Rice came out strong and also could have brought a tie home if started in place of the 63 year old Hines Ward. Ward was Rusty’s last chance in the Sunday night game being down 10 but only got 17 yards and a 3rd loss of the year. A lot of single digits for Nation still added up for the victory.
Hide Ya Kids Hide Ya Wife vs. A Pimp Named Slickback – Rick James said it best when asking, “What did the five fingers say to the face?... SLAP!” Slickback reached all the way back and knocked the wife and kids around on this one. Welker went mad for 34 outscoring Hide Ya’s entire team except for his TE! Yes 1 player outscored 8. That might be all you need to know right there. If it weren’t for the Chicago Bears’ complete inability to guard Finley this would have been almost too much to write about. Hide Ya left an additional 21 points from Joe Flacco on the bench and also watched Ryan Grant score more points on the bench as Gore, Green-Ellis, Wayne and Steve Smith starting! Just a worst case scenario all around for Hide Ya and hopefully he can get this all out of his system and try to get back on track before next week. Slickback was playing against himself in the Monday night game as he watched Witten put a few more cherries on top of the ass-stomping sundae he served up this week. Slickback could have even taken over the points lead if he played the Cowboys D
Huge Hits vs. The Blackshirts – one Stalnaker and undefeated team went down on Sunday…would we make it two on Monday night? An 18 point lead and Fred Davis versus Tim Hightower and Dez Bryant was what we were left with and I am sure more than just two teams were keeping tabs on this game hoping no undefeated teams remained after the week. Of course this had to be one the most brutal Monday night games to watch as the kickers staged an epic battle of field goal mastery. Fred Davis came away with only 2 points on Monday night as Cooley started to get into the action more this week. Of course on the other side Hightower was doing just a little and Bryant was invisible during the game. Hightower ripped off a TD reception to get it close but it still looked unlikely in the 4th quarter for the Blackshirts. In the end it came down to the last 2 minutes of the game where Cameron needed 2 more points from Hightower. Of course instead of throwing the ball down the field Grossman dumped off to hightower a couple times and picked up the 2 points for the….TIE! yeah a little anticlimactic. Still great matchp. If The Blackshirts would have played Mark Ingram or Moore over Dez he would have gotten the win, but the best call of the week was made by Huge Hits (read below).
**Commissioner Note**
There are no tie-breakers for bench points during the regular season. This rule has been in place. The reason is that if a person has players on bye and the other doesn't that should not count against a team. That was not the case here, but the rule has to be in place the whole year. During the playoffs, bench points count as the tiebreaker. No more teams on bye and you need to put your best team together. If you do not like the rule bring it up next year but that rule will be in affect the rest of the season.

Move of the Week: As mentioned above Huge Hits get the honor this week without question. The Blackshirts lost his TE and did not think the waiver wire was the place to find a TE. Of course the 3rd TE that his opponent decided to pick up was Fred Davis, the target of the Blackshirts. Huge Hits had to choose between his three TEs, one of which was Dallas Clark. He sat Clark and his one point and played Fred Davis and his 2. This might not seem all the big, but that one point different between Clark and Davis at least got Hits the tie. If The Blackshirts would have gotten Davis and started him he would have received 1 additional point from this TE spot this week and actually come away with a victory. Without a doubt great GMing by Huge Hits.
Oops of the Week: Rusty Trombone wins this week again because of inconsistency from his players. LT was the man on the bench this week and dropped 20 versus the started 2 of Turner. But playing him over Frenchy would have also gotten the win.
Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Rock Chalk wins again playing 2nd high score of the week while putting up 4th himself. Brutal schedule to start the year for Rock Chalk.
Team Glad they Played Who They Did: Jayhawk Nation could have beaten only 3 teams this week and luckily played one of them. Matchups are key and there is always a luck factor.
