Buy Low on BGE

BenJarvus Green-Ellis has been disappointing the last month to put it mildly.  His last 5 games he is averaging just over four fantasy points per game in standard scoring.  Even last night against the Chiefs he could only muster 10 points.  The one thing about the Monday night game though was that the Patriots were up and the Law Firm got 20 carries and even a couple looks in the passing game.  When you look at the schedule moving forward the Patriots play the Eagles, Colts, Redskins, Broncos, Dolphins and finally the Bills in Week 17.  I would expect only the Eagles game to be somewhat close meaning garbage time for Green-Ellis to clean up and close out games.  The Eagles are 25th worst against the pass and you can also expect the Patriots to realize they may have an easier time running through Philly rather than throwing against their secondary.  TDs have been also lost from the BGE repertoire lately, but as the weather gets colder look for Brady to hand off a few more times and punch it in rather than throwing the rock all around.  With trade deadlines most likely wrapping up this week make a last minute play for BenJarvus and flex him into the playoffs.

In Tebow We Trust

Everyone is talking about him so might as well add to the conversation.  It does not really matter what you think of Tim Tebow, hate him, love him, respect him, whatever, Tebow will bring you fantasy points.  In his last 5 starts Tebow is averaging 17.6 fantasy points per game in standard scoring.  You can even go back 6 games where he played only a half and he still put up 16 points in 30 minutes.  If you own him I hope you do not watch him play because you likely are not sticking around for the last couple minutes of the game where he shines and does his damage.  Last night he had 3 fantasy points going into the final five minutes of the game, but then it was Tebow Time!  35 yards passing picked you up 2 points and 57 yards rushing with a rushing touchdown gave you another 11 for a final game total of 16 fantasy points.  Tebow might be maddening to watch, but he gets it done for your team and has been consistent if nothing else.  That being said the Jets found a way to hold him in check for 55 minutes.  Teams will continue to scheme more and more against Tebow to mimic what the Jets were able to accomplish for most of the game.  But then again we are talking about Tebow here, and can anyone really stop him?  You may only be able to use him more and more as a matchup play in the coming weeks, but unless you own Rodgers, Brees or Brady, I would be considering Tebow every week.  I just would not watch the game.

You Just Got Shanahaned!

If you used a top waiver priority or spent the rest of your FAB on Roy Helu you should have known better.  Yes Helu was the talk of the fantasy world coming off a 31 touch day, but you should have known.  Last Tuesday we spoke about the Redskins upcoming schedule, which was unkind to say the least, so expecting too much from Helu and the awful offense that is the Redskins would have been a mistake.  But throw in the fact that Shanahan hates fantasy football more than he hates making a decision and you should have really seen Torain getting the start, being horrible and Helu just playing on passing downs.  From the words of the coach himself, “I wanted to give Ryan [Torain] a chance to see what we could do against a very good defensive team.”  Well he couldn’t do anything, but that should not surprise you or make you even believe that Helu will be the smart play this week.  Another top run-stopping unit is on tap this week with Dallas so expect nothing from the Skins.  At this point you are better picking up Tashard Choice or actually picking up whoever the top Redskin RB is on the practice squad because that guy will probably strike it rich in the fantasy playoffs.  Do yourself a favor and drop all Redskins from your roster and definitely do not pick any of them up and save yourself the heartburn.

Top Targets from Wide Receivers

Wednesdays bring more of the stats and trends articles, and you can view them all in full on the Analysis tab.  The two main names to pay attention to that other analysts are keying in on as well are Antonio Brown and Brandon Lloyd.  Familiar names, but names you might not yet associate as top tier WRs.  Lloyd has not been finding the end zone as frequently, but according to Ken Daube from ESPN he is averaging 12.7 targets per game over the last 4 weeks.  This is nearly 2 total targets more than the next closest WR.  Antonio Brown is in the top 10 in targets as well and has even received more targets than his flashier counterpart Mike Wallace the last 3 weeks.  If it were not for the speedy Wallace last week stealing away a TD late against Baltimore on a target intended for Brown, Antonio would have delivered an 18 point day and his 2nd TD in as many weeks.  Sanders is ruled out for a couple weeks so Brown should see even more targets on a team leaning more and more towards the pass.
Both of these WRs are looking to finish the season strong so looking to trade for them now while their value is relatively low could make a huge difference down the stretch.

Roy Helu, Roy Helu, Roy Helu

If you did not know his name by now just drop over on the Analysis tab and you will quickly get introduced.  I have yet to find a fantasy analyst who has not recommended him as a pickup this week if he is still available.  While Helu is clearly coming off a game when he was the focal point of an offense, 17 targets for 14 catches and 10 carries, he still only netted 12 fantasy points.  Thanks to not being able to find the end zone and a fumble is day was solid.  Of course when you get 27 potential targets we might expect a little more.  The schedule coming up is not great, with the next three opponents ranking in the top 10 in holding down opposing RBs from a fantasy perspective.  After that he gets the Jets, Pats and Giants so expecting the world from this guy is probably not to be expected.  If he continues to get 20 touches a game he is likely a top 20 back, but with Shanahan as his coach and the team struggling to put up points (averaging 11 points a game over the last month) the praise of the fantasy world might quickly turn to boos.  If I were an owner I might be looking to sell now and give the headache of the Redskins’ running back to someone else.

Great Monday Morning Analysis from Christopher Harris

You can check out the latest article from Christopher Harris detailing players on the rise and fall in the world of fantasy sports.  Christopher watches every minute of every game each week so I trust his evaluations of players and coaching.  Quick hits from today’s article focus on why Roy Helu should be a definite waiver addition (so long Ryan Torain), what happened to Darrius Heyward-Bey on Sunday and why Beanie Wells owners should start panicking again and finding trading partners.  Other players mentioned include DeMarco Murray & Felix Jones, Reggie Bush & Daniel Thomas, John Baldwin, Antonio Brown, Saints RBs and Ray Rice.  Check out the Analysis tab or look Chris up at ESPN.

The Sunday Scene Provides Fantasy Updates All Day Long

If you are not familiar with the Sunday Scene article from Andy Behrens of Yahoo you should check it out under the Analysis tab.  Every Sunday Andy Behrens runs a day long blog on all the major developments for every game in action.  If you are not able to watch all the games or follow our live twitter updates on Sunday at least you can know who is having a huge fantasy day, who has been injured and who could be costing you a win that week.  Updates usually come after the conclusions of games and continue late into the night with final wrap up and possible early waiver wire looks.  Check it out.

Earnest Graham Opportunities Abound

LeGarrette Blount is all but ruled out the next two weeks. Early unconfirmed reports are also stating that his MCL sprain is actually a tear and he could miss 4 - 6 weeks. This leaves Graham with a lot of touches laying around. Graham has already been averaging just over 8 touches a game through five weeks. He also is currently 5th among running backs in targets ahead of known reception hogs Ray Rice and LeSean McCoy. Blount himself was averaging 16 touches a game so all things considered Graham is looking like a lock to get 20 touches a week for the foreseeable future. (that is of course unless you think Kregg Lumpkin and his 2 carries for 7 yards on the season will be fighting for starting duties) Graham has been the starter before and even on a struggling team facing decent opponents the next couple weeks his known touches alone make him a valuable flex or solid #2 RB. If he is a free agent currently in your league stop reading now and pick him up. If he is already on a bench try making a low end trade now before the full story on Blount is revealed. Rare is the running back getting all the touches on a NFL roster these days and Graham has just been signed up for everything he can handle.

Harry Douglas Not the Answer in Week 6

Julio Jones is already ruled out for Week 6 and many sites are already touting Douglas and his pre-season performances as a solid pickup this week. While the Carolina defense has not been able to slow down anyone, they are particularly awful against the run ranking 31st out of 32 teams from a fantasy perspective. This is great if you are a Michael Turner owner and Roddy White is going to get his double digit targets, but there will not be much left for Douglas. The Panthers still have a sound offense with surprise star Cam Newton leading the way and the Falcons desperately need a win so keeping Newton, Smith and the rest of the Carolina offense off the field will likely be a priority with a heavy dose of runs. Look elsewhere if you are scrambling during the bye week.

Viva Las Vegas Week 5 Update

Week 5 brought the bye weeks and points scored started to suffer. Only one team dropped triple digits and the matchups got closer. The standings are starting to show more separation so make sure you have your optimal lineup to get those W’s.
As a reminder all trades require five vetoes to be voided. Please check the boards often as desperate teams may make desperate moves to get back in the race.

Nicks Got This vs. Cromartie + 8 – Nicks Got This played an optimal lineup and still came up short in this matchup. Going into Monday night Nicks held an 84 to 58 point lead, but Cromartie still had his big guns in Forte and CJ. Nicks had to be loving the way the first quarter was playing out and then a 76 yard TD to CJ turned the tides and from there Cromartie was able to pick up plenty of points to secure the victory and put both teams at 3 – 2.

Team Grape Leaves vs. Mike Vick in a Box – Another Monday night closer affair with Grape Leaves having Stafford remaining and down 12. Of course Stafford was on the throwing end of the CJ TD bomb and Grape Leaves came up with enough points to grab his second win of the season. The negative 1 point from Ryan Grant looked like it might be the difference maker in the matchup, but in the end Grape Leaves made a great call of defenses playing the Bills 16 points against the Eagles versus the Saints 4 against the Panthers. Tough call and one that one him the matchup for sure. DeAngelo Williams over Sproles could have saved Mike Vick in a Box, but seeing how DWill had performed up to this point it would have been hard to make that decision.

Singletary’s Bad Dream vs. Prestige Worldwide – Singletary’s Bad Dream once again chose Reggie Wayne over Garcon and left an additional 20 points on the bench because of it. Of course the rest of his team stepped up big including the nice play of Victor Cruz to secure a win. Prestige put up solid points from his RBs and WRs and even the 17 of Ward or 16 from Lynch on the bench would not have made a difference in this matchup. Josh Freeman did Worldwide no favors and he watched as his team slipped to 1 – 4.

I’m Lov’n the West Side vs. Raw Dawg Kings – The 3rd Sunday night matchup with some intrigue. West Side was down 13 with only Best to go and after the way the first half went Raw Dawg had to be feeling pretty good. Of course one 88 yard TD run by Best and that was all that was needed to bring home win number four for the West Side. Even though there were 53 points on Raw Dawg’s bench, none of them could have helped him overcome this week as 51 were from his two QBs on the bench. Of course his starter also through up 25. Might be time to start shopping QBs.

Goldteef Shinin’ vs. Team Show Me Your TDs – this was a low scoring affair and Goldteef probably can’t believe all of the choices he could have made to get him a win. TDs got his 4th win of the season despite low outputs from most everyone on his team. Goldteef though could not see into the future and realize that a hobbled Big Ben is exactly who you want starting because he is for sure going to have a career day. Fitzpatrick put up a mediocre performance and the 19 additional points from Roethlisberger sat on the bench. Shinin’s receiver choice of Lloyd is probably haunting him a little too as AJ Green or Branch could have saved his day and brought home a victory.

Blount’s Blunts vs. Rock Chalk – 2 massive performances from AP and D Bowe brought home the fifth win of the season for Blount’s Blunts and put him alone atop the leaderboard. Single digits from the rest of his team was enough to fight back Rock Chalk and drop him into last place all alone yet to get a win. Of course the NFL has the “Suck for Luck” campaign and Rock Chalk must be doing the same being that the last place team gets the first pick in the draft next season… (did you just spit out your drink and scream bull shit at the computer screen?) This is not the NFL people and just making sure you were still reading! I do not reward losers in this league, even if that loser is myself. Rock Chalk is looking to go on a unprecedented 8 win streak to storm into the playoffs so watch out Raw Dawg, you are first on the hit list.

Move of the Week: As mentioned above the great defensive call by Team Grape Leaves with the Bills over the Saints was the difference in his matchup and securing a win.

Oops of the Week: Goldteef Shinin’ had some tough calls that bit him hard and lost by just 6 points, but when there are over 50 points on your bench from different positions you are definitely kicking yourself on Tuesday.

Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Raw Dawg Kings put up a solid 91 and could have beaten 8 other teams in the league this week but ended up playing high score and found himself at 2 – 3. Kings might have to get a little luckier if he wants to get a shot at defending his title.

Team Glad they Played Who They Did: Team Show Me Your TDs could have only beaten one single team in the league this week and he just happened to play him. This is not a fair game and sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

Ta Town Playas Week 5 Update

The bye weeks are upon us and the overall points being scored definitely went down. Only 2 teams cracked the 100 and two teams in the same matchup struggled to get over 100 combined. Some close matchups and overall the standings got even tighter this week with five teams within a half game of first. It is early, but total points could end up breaking some ties for playoff spots if we stay this competitive.

Rusty Trombone vs. Who Got the Key to My Cage? – Close matchup and Cage has to be so happy about his new trade. (Pinkshirts appears to be happy about it as well) Who Got the Key to My Cage? got a quick 30 from newly acquired AP and all 3 of his WRs went off for a total of 49 points. He also got a nice 13 from his pickup of the Bengals D. He decided though to keep it close and roll out Kyle Orton and his negative one point giving Rusty Trombone some hope late. Rusty was down 47 points but had Rodgers, Turner and the Packers D so he was definitely still in the hunt. Unfortunately he fell just short of the dramatic Sunday night comeback. Rusty is still having problems picking starting RBs each week going again with LT and leaving the 9 of Pierre Thomas on the bench. He also did not see the 2 TD performance of Hines Ward coming (no one did) and instead got only 5 points combined from Lloyd and Rice. Tough loss all around.

Hide Ya Kids Hide Ya Wife vs. Blame it on the Henny – Hide Ya Kids had great performances from his 3 RBs pulling together a combined 60 points. Hide Ya actually played an optimal lineup on his way to high score of the week and a big win over Henny. Henny was left with Megatron going on Monday night, but not even the mighty Decepticon (I just watched the 3rd Transformers) could overcome a 43 points deficit. Henny played the wrong Bengal and also left Flloyd’s first useful game of the season on the bench in the loss. A solid output but not enough to get to the top of the standings.

A Pimp Named Slickback vs. The Pinkshirts – still going with the Pinkshirts after that comeback win over the Buckeyes? Slickback put up a respectable 90 on the backs of Cam Newton and his Russian kicker. Welker propped up Slickback’s WR core, which pretty much consists of Welker and whatever, and came through with plenty to hold off the Pinkshirts. The Pinkshirts of course were playing with a makeshift crew of players due to Ray Rice, Dez and Hightower all being on bye. Ridley was not the pickup he was looking for and his big name receivers in Fitz and VJ put up single digits for the week. Fitzpatrick also brought only 9 to the table so it looks as though the Pinkshirts may be playing who is the QB of the week for the rest of the season. Good luck with that.

Jayhawk Nation vs. Huge Hits – Huge Hits continued his streak of playing the right matchup that week and came away with another win. Outside of Jayhawk Nation and The Pinkshirts bye-week massacre, he would not have been able to get a win this week. But everything lined up even with the 17 points from DWill on his bench. Jayhawk Nation though made a costly defensive decision this week that became a 30 point swing! Funny enough the two defenses were playing each other this week and Nation went the wrong way with the Bucs over the 49ers. This one easy switch would have gotten Nation an easy win after Forte put up X on Monday night. Nation’s team just laid down this week as he received only 6 total points from 6 player spots! Brutal loss.

Rock Chalk vs. A Team Named Suh – Going into Monday night A Team Named Suh held a 73 to 56 point lead with Suh having the Lions D and kicker against the Lions QB and RB. For anyone who watched the first quarter of this game, first let me say I am sorry because that was brutal. It was not looking good at all for Rock Chalk until Best ripped off an 88 yard TD run to pull slightly ahead. From there Best was able to continue adding to his total getting over 160 for the game and became the true difference maker for Rock Chalk. Even after a trade that netted him fewer points he was able to escape with the win. A Team Named Suh could not have done anything to stop the final outcome of this game as his bench was either hurt of on bye and even with his optimal lineup he fell short.

Move of the Week: Who Got the Key to My Cage? made a timely trade that netted him a big win. AP and Maclin came up huge and without the trade, Cage? would still have been stuck on one win for the season.

Oops of the Week: Jayhawk Nation wins the award by flipping a coin and ending up with the wrong defense this week. A 30 point swing based on a stupid defense! Fantasy can be so cruel.

Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Rusty Trombone ended up playing the second highest score of the week when he was 3rd and took a tough loss.

Team Glad they Played Who They Did: Huge Hits decided 69 points was enough to secure his 3rd win of the season and he was right. What is even more crazy is that this 3rd win put Hits in a first place tie for the season while sitting 2nd to last in points.

Viva Las Vegas Week 4 Update

A lot of close matchups this week and standings reflect this for the most part too. Only 1 team undefeated and only 1 team winless. The winless team should be completely ashamed of themselves and told me they are actually accepting all trade offers to shake this team up even though he really liked the squad before the start of the season.
Just as a follow up as well, we need five vetos for a trade to be voided. 5 vetos are half of the commissioners not involved in a trade in case you were wondering.
On to the updates.

Show Me Your TDs vs. Nick Got This – Show Me did not find enough TDs this week to overcome the onslaught of Nicks led by the amazing and all powerful Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers’ 48 points was more than half of TDs’ team total this week. Nicks Got This had his namesake also drop 22 and this matchup was over as soon as the Packers received the ball. TDs had a solid week and could have defeated half of the league, but ran into the buzzsaw this week.

Raw Dawg Kings vs. Blount’s Blunts – Raw Dawg left two more experienced QBs on his bench and went back to the Cam Newton well this week and the move was a good one to the tune of 31 points. Unfortunately Blunts needed only 6 from Blount on Monday night and got that and more on his way to the 4th win of the season. Blount’s Blunts even left 28 from Matt Forte on his bench and then traded the man and came up with a victory. Andre Johnson coming up limp for Raw Dawg might made a big difference in the matchup as only 3 points from your #1 pick will usually leave you shorthanded.

Singletary’s Bad Dream vs. Goldteef Shinin’ – This was the closest matchup of the week and delivered a great game throughout. Goldteef made a nice call going with the Redskins over his early defensive choice of the Steelers and Singletary was rewarded for believing in a gimpy Beanie Wells for a huge 31. That 31 kept the Bad Dream alive going into Monday night with a choice of Reggie Wayne versus Pierre Garcon and down 9 points. Would have been tough to play Garcon over Wayne, but maybe last week’s connection between Painter and Garcon could have foreshadowed the big game coming last night. Singletary had to sit and watch Pierre come up with 32 points while Wayne made just a few short catches and leave himself 5 points shy of the victory. Playing San Diego over the Vikings could have also saved Singletary’s day and might have him living this week for bad dream over and over.

Rock Chalk vs. I’m Lovin’ the West Side – this matchup had a number of players left on the bench scoring big points but in the end the West Side was lovin’ who he played this week. Even though he left Witten, DeSean and BGE on the bench for a net loss of 34 points on his bench, West Side pulled out his third win of the season thanks to Rock Chalk leaving all 19 of Romo’s points on the bench in favor of the monster 2 from Cutler. This move alone would have secured Rock Chalk with his first victory but instead is left as the last winless team in the league.

Team Grape Leaves vs. Prestige Worldwide – Another bad choice at QB made the difference in this matchup. Grape Leaves got his first win of the season Frank Gore coming back to life even though he did not start the game and Gresham turning in a solid 13 point outing. It was the 2 points from Flacco versus the 23 from Freeman on the bench that killed Prestige and left him at only one win though. QB choices are hard week to week and Worldwide became the second victim of awful QB play.

Cromartie + 8 vs. Mike Vick in a Box – what a great matchup featuring two teams crossing the triple digit barrier. Mike Vick in a Box got going quickly with 29 from his namesake and other solid calls with Sproles and Sidney Rice racking up big points. He had to be feeling pretty good as well being up 22 points going into Sunday night left facing only a defense. Of course Sunday night was probably an excruciating game to watch as the Baltimore Defense rolled up 29 points and the huge comeback victory for Cromartie. Mike Vick might be considering a different defense this week as he took a negative 2 from the Dallas D when a possible switch to anyone else on the open marked could have netted him the few points he would have need to secure a win. Touch matchup and horrible way to go down.

Move of the Week: Goldteef put his draft behind him, picked up the Redskins Sunday morning and played them over the once powerful Steelers. This last second move secured the narrow victory and got Goldteef his second straight win.

Oops of the Week: Rock Chalk and Prestige were in the running, but Singletary’s Bad Dream wins the award losing by 4 and having two different options at WR and DEF make the difference in his matchup.

Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Mike Vick in a Box wins running away being able to beat 9 of the 11 teams in the league this week, but unfortunately having to play against the 109 and Ravens D and suffering another loss.

Team Glad they Played Who They Did: I’m Lovin’ the West Side only could have beaten the two scores of 62 this week and got lucky enough to play one of them.

Viva Las Vegas!

Ta Town Playas Week 4 Update

Not sure the NFL has discovered how to play defense yet this year. More and more points are being scored each week and we had 2 different teams post scores over 140. That is extremely impressive when the average points per game scored by all teams in the league this year is just a hair over 80! On to the matchups.

The Pinkshirts vs. Jayhawk Nation – It looks as though due to Nebraska’s performance in Madison on Saturday the aforementioned Blackshirts will be known as the Pinkshirts. Nebraska fans take the loss of their teams particularly hard and find the need for self-humiliation because of the actions of their beloved cornhuskers. Anyway… The Pinkshirts came to play unlike the boys from NU and came away with a solid victory. The Pinkshirts held a 2 point lead going into the Sunday night game with only Ray Rice versus Plaxico Burres, Santonio Holmes and Dustin Keller. Jayhawk Nation had much faith this week in the Jets going against Baltimore. Unfortunately for him that faith was not rewarded and Rice easily outscored the three receiving options for Sanchez. The Pinkshirts made it hard on himself too leaving all 31 of Beanie’s points on the bench and also deciding against a dinged up Dez Bryant and his 15. Nation though could not get enough support around Forte’s huge day and lost his second of the year.

Rusty Trombone vs. A Pimp Named Slickback – still looking for his first win of the season, Rusty Trombone decided to leave nothing in doubt this week when he slapped Slickback twice across the mouth and dropped what high score of the year at that point. 141 points all together with 45 coming from Aaron Rodgers alone. Rodgers was sick and the rest of Rusty’s lineup followed suit dropping double digits all over the place. Slickback just got into triple digits, but that did not make a difference. Cam Newton’s 31 on the bench would not have made up the spread and even a good choice in defense could not help. Rusty played a near perfect lineup and let everyone know he is not out of the fight yet.

Who Got the Key to My Cage? vs. Hide Ya Kids Hide Ya Wife – Arian Foster and Frank Gore came back to life this week and played a huge role in getting Hide Ya back to .500 on the season. This was a relatively close matchup most of the way, but neither CJ or McFadden could get across the goal line to add quick 6’s for Cage? and only Bowe provided a TD from the six RB/WR/TE positions. Even playing Tony Romo would not have gotten Cage close enough to get a victory and Reggie Wayne iced the matchup on Monday night.

Blame it on the Henny vs. A Team Named Suh – So this is what the high score of the season looks like. Blame it on the Henny let loose a complete ass-whupping on Suh to the tune of 154. This game just got out of hand as every player on Henny’s team contributed big numbers and Baltimore’s Defense hung a final 29 on Sunday night. Suh’s team had no real answer as his defense and kicker turned in some of the highest performances for the week and by the time Monday night rolled around Blount would have needed 400 yards and 7 TDs to even scrape out a tie. Not sure if it is harder losing a 1 point matchup or not even getting a chance to compete, but Suh definitely fell into the latter this week.

Huge Hits vs. Rock Chalk – What a comeback. Huge Hits was probably left for dead with only Josh Freeman left on Monday night and 22 points behind. Of course Freeman has an amazing game and the Colts left too much time on the clock for the Bucs to keep running plays and unfortunately still allowing Freeman to run loose! Neither team played a perfect lineup leaving key points in this close matchup on the bench and Rock Chalk is still waiting for the stat correction to come through and get a point back. Rock Chalk has managed to outscore Huge Hits by a margin of 15 points a game so far, but the standings have Hits in 3rd and Rock Chalk in 8th.

Move of the Week: Huge Hits easily gets the award this week because of a great move that was served up by his opponent this week. Rock Chalk dropped Eric Decker for Nate Washington earlier in the week and Huge Hits took advantage and picked up and played Decker. Decker’s 17 points were instrumental in the 1 point victory this week and really only Rock Chalk has himself to blame.

Oops of the Week: When you lose a game by a point there is likely a better move you could have made so Rock Chalk wins the award this week. Not only did he serve up a key player to his opponent, and it would have been hard to sit Gronkowski but an Owen Daniels play would have changed the tides and got this team to .500

Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: A Pimp Named Slickback was one of 4 teams to score triple digits this week but unfortunately had to play against the 141 from Rusty. Better luck next week

Team Glad they Played Who They Did: Huge Hits got the luxury of not playing one of the 4 triple digit teams and could only beat 3 teams in total this week. Does not matter because he played one of them and came away with another victory. 9th in total points but 3rd in the standings means Hits is livin’ right so far.

Viva Las Vegas Week 3 Update

Week 3 was a different beast where points were not being thrown up all over the place. Fantasy studs put up nothing while benches were flush with points from unlikely stars. A couple teams needed wins this week to avoid the 0 – 3 hole almost impossible to crawl out of but not all succeeded.

Nicks Got This vs. Raw Dawg Kings – Nicks got nothing in this matchup. Literally, Hakeem Nicks sucked it up (I am an owner in another league and was cursing the man on Sunday). When your TE doubles up all of your other RBs and WRs during a week you are likely going to be struggling to get a W. Nicks Got This had a 37 to 6 point differential between the TE, DEF and K (which except for the TE to a small degree are impossible to predict positions) over Raw Dawg. In the end though Kings brought home 57 points compared to only 12 for Nicks from the important RB and WR slots. Nicks had nothing on the bench that could have helped him so at least there was no second guessing that could make up for the first loss of the season.

Blount’s Blunts vs. I’m Lovin’ the West Side – a matchup of two undefeated teams quickly became all about one man very quickly. Wes Welker went crazy on Sunday and put up 34 (44%) of Blount’s Blunts’ total points for the week. Going into the Monday night game with only Witten left to play Welker nearly outscored 7 of West Side’s players by himself! LaGarrette rode the pine for the second week in a row (maybe team should be called AP’s Blunts?) but it did not matter. West Side did not have a single player on his team score double digits this week. All of this did not even come close to mattering though as this was a blowout the second Welker took the field. Gronkowski’s 22 on the bench was wasted as he outscored Best, Knox, the lawfirm and DeSean all by himself. If Gronk would have been in the lineup over Witten and Lance Moore in place of BGE West Side would have come away with a close victory.

Prestige Worldwide vs. Team Cromartie + 8 – For a team that averaged 95 points the first two weeks, the 58 put up by Prestige Worldwide had to be a little disappointing. MJD was the leading scorer for Prestige, but when you kicker is 2nd in total points you can assume defeat is near. Cromartie on the other hand went from averaging 75 to drop triple digits and it could have been even more had Bowe or Moore been in the lineups. This one was over quickly and got Cromartie his first win of the season, which was crucial as he avoided going 0 – 3.

Team Grape Leaves vs. Goldteef Shinin’ – two winless teams met in this matchup, but we saw nothing but Goldteef Shinin’ after this beat down. Goldteef put up big time triple digits this week mostly on the backs of McFadden and Wallace throwing up a combined 55. Teef could have actually just started those two players and got a victory this week as the 48 points from Grape Leaves was brutal. Of course when Gore and Britt are on your team and go down within the games the outcome speaks for itself. If CJ ever gets going for Goldteef then this team could become a monster.

Mike Vick in a Box vs. Team ShowMe Your TDs – ShowMe Your TDs came up with his 3rd win of the season this week though win #3 was not as impressive as the 143 explosion from the week prior. TDs scored just 81 this week in a solid performance and left Fred Jackson’s 21 on the bench in favor of the 8 from Tate. Mike Vick in a Box had a truly disastrous day as a GM though has he left 94 points on his bench in favor of the 74 that were started. QB, RB and WR could have all had different choices made (not saying I would have made them) that would have turned this game completely around and brought home a win. Vick in a Box lost Vick for real for the second time in two games. Deangelo Williams is also looking like an extremely high paid fantasy dud. Not sure I would have started Sanchez, LT or Sidney Rice this week (I wouldn’t have, but you hate to see that many points just laying around). In the end the Cowboys D made it close at the end but not enough.

Rock Chalk vs. Singletary’s Bad Dream – This matchup was tight all Sunday between the two teams. Brady and the surprising Daniel Thomas got Bad Dream out quickly, but Jermichael Finley came roaring back with 3 TDs and 26 points. In the end it came down to Monday night with Romo and Dez against Hightower with Singletary’s Bad Dream holding a 2 point lead. The matchup went literally down to the final minute of the game as Romo and Bryant did not do much all game and Hightower snuck in a receiving TD. In the end though it was Dalla’s inability to get in the end zone and Rock Chalk had to watch Hightower pick up an additional 3 points on the final 2 minute drive to secure the one point victory.

Move of the Week: Singletary’s Bad Dream wins the prize this week. Staying in touch with his lineup and realizing Gates would not start on Sunday Bad Dream picked up Ed Dickson over other possibilities such as Tony Sheffler or Jeff King both whom put up zeros this week. The 5 points from Dickson was the deciding factor in his one point win.

Oops of the Week: Rock Chalk could have stuck with Rex Grossman over the injured Romo on Monday night and been on the right side of a 1 point victory but instead went with Romo. Crushing wrong choice and dropped the team to 0 – 3 overall.

Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Rock Chalk wins the second award this week being able to beat 7 other teams out there but playing the one that squeaked out the win.

Team Glad they Played Who They Did: Blount’s Blunts could have only beaten 4 of the 11 teams this week but drew the lowest output of the week and got his third win of the season.

Ta Town Playas Week 3 Update

Week 3 was not the across the board point explosions that we saw the previous week. Instead injuries started popping up and studs became duds in an instant. We had a couple blow outs, a couple close calls and one of the closest finishes in a matchup I have ever seen.

Rock Chalk vs. Blame it on the Henny – Rock Chalk fell 2 short of triple digits this game and unfortunately played against another triple digit opponent. Henny went from averaging 80 points a week to drop 111 and secure a big W. Before the game I told Henny it would all come down to how Matthews and Tolbert shook out and that became all too true has Matthews scored 23 more points. Addai over Tolbert and Nelson over Nicks would have helped give RC the win, but of course Henny could have played the same game and simply started Greene over Benson (which he may have to moving forward with the suspension looming). By far the most points scored between two teams and all Rock Chalk can do is blame in on the Henny. (As commish I get to rant a little bit more and since I am averaging both scoring the most points per game (107) and getting scored on the most (110) and find myself at 1 – 2, you all can suck it)

A Team Named Suh vs. Who Got the Key to My Cage? – Tthis one appeared to be a little closer earlier on but as soon as McFadden touched the field and dropped 29 it was all over with Cage rolling to his first victory. Mike Wallace slapped an additional 20 on Sunday night and ol’ Rexy added the final dip of sweetness and dropped Suh hard. Suh lost Gates before kickoff and then Kenny Britt for the year just after the start of the early games so a depleted team in the lineup for sure. Suh might be scrambling for some live players after this week and trying to get back on the 100 point track he was on coming in.

Jayhawk Nation vs. Rusty Trombone – Tom Brady is keeping Nation afloat these days. This was a close game all day and Plaxico caught a late TD strike for 8 points that made a huge difference in the final outcome. Rusty is finding picking the correct starting RB to be much harder than one would expect. A week after benching Turner and playing the goose egg from LT he switched his lineup only to watch Turner get 2 while LT piled up 20 on the bench. That move alone would have secured a W for Trombone. Sidney Rice came out strong and also could have brought a tie home if started in place of the 63 year old Hines Ward. Ward was Rusty’s last chance in the Sunday night game being down 10 but only got 17 yards and a 3rd loss of the year. A lot of single digits for Nation still added up for the victory.

Hide Ya Kids Hide Ya Wife vs. A Pimp Named Slickback – Rick James said it best when asking, “What did the five fingers say to the face?... SLAP!” Slickback reached all the way back and knocked the wife and kids around on this one. Welker went mad for 34 outscoring Hide Ya’s entire team except for his TE! Yes 1 player outscored 8. That might be all you need to know right there. If it weren’t for the Chicago Bears’ complete inability to guard Finley this would have been almost too much to write about. Hide Ya left an additional 21 points from Joe Flacco on the bench and also watched Ryan Grant score more points on the bench as Gore, Green-Ellis, Wayne and Steve Smith starting! Just a worst case scenario all around for Hide Ya and hopefully he can get this all out of his system and try to get back on track before next week. Slickback was playing against himself in the Monday night game as he watched Witten put a few more cherries on top of the ass-stomping sundae he served up this week. Slickback could have even taken over the points lead if he played the Cowboys D

Huge Hits vs. The Blackshirts – one Stalnaker and undefeated team went down on Sunday…would we make it two on Monday night? An 18 point lead and Fred Davis versus Tim Hightower and Dez Bryant was what we were left with and I am sure more than just two teams were keeping tabs on this game hoping no undefeated teams remained after the week. Of course this had to be one the most brutal Monday night games to watch as the kickers staged an epic battle of field goal mastery. Fred Davis came away with only 2 points on Monday night as Cooley started to get into the action more this week. Of course on the other side Hightower was doing just a little and Bryant was invisible during the game. Hightower ripped off a TD reception to get it close but it still looked unlikely in the 4th quarter for the Blackshirts. In the end it came down to the last 2 minutes of the game where Cameron needed 2 more points from Hightower. Of course instead of throwing the ball down the field Grossman dumped off to hightower a couple times and picked up the 2 points for the….TIE! yeah a little anticlimactic. Still great matchp. If The Blackshirts would have played Mark Ingram or Moore over Dez he would have gotten the win, but the best call of the week was made by Huge Hits (read below).

**Commissioner Note**
There are no tie-breakers for bench points during the regular season. This rule has been in place. The reason is that if a person has players on bye and the other doesn't that should not count against a team. That was not the case here, but the rule has to be in place the whole year. During the playoffs, bench points count as the tiebreaker. No more teams on bye and you need to put your best team together. If you do not like the rule bring it up next year but that rule will be in affect the rest of the season.
****

Move of the Week: As mentioned above Huge Hits get the honor this week without question. The Blackshirts lost his TE and did not think the waiver wire was the place to find a TE. Of course the 3rd TE that his opponent decided to pick up was Fred Davis, the target of the Blackshirts. Huge Hits had to choose between his three TEs, one of which was Dallas Clark. He sat Clark and his one point and played Fred Davis and his 2. This might not seem all the big, but that one point different between Clark and Davis at least got Hits the tie. If The Blackshirts would have gotten Davis and started him he would have received 1 additional point from this TE spot this week and actually come away with a victory. Without a doubt great GMing by Huge Hits.

Oops of the Week: Rusty Trombone wins this week again because of inconsistency from his players. LT was the man on the bench this week and dropped 20 versus the started 2 of Turner. But playing him over Frenchy would have also gotten the win.

Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Rock Chalk wins again playing 2nd high score of the week while putting up 4th himself. Brutal schedule to start the year for Rock Chalk.

Team Glad they Played Who They Did: Jayhawk Nation could have beaten only 3 teams this week and luckily played one of them. Matchups are key and there is always a luck factor.

Viva Las Vegas Week 2 Update

Big point totals and a couple of close games marked week 2. After 2 weeks 4 teams are 2 – 0, 4 are 1 – 1 and 4 are 0 – 2. Those four on the bottom need a victory this week big time before the season starts to slip away before it even begins.

Singletary’s Bad Dream vs. Nick Got This – Singletary was probably the only person in America that did not start Jamal Charles last week and still took a loss. While making the great call to start two other RBs, the zero he received from Plaxico and Gates could not be overcome. There was no one else on the bench that could have saved him though so no other bad calls even when you put up doughnuts on the scoreboard. Nicks Got This left his Giant WRs on the bench in place of the zero he received from Mike Williams, but Nicks got 13 points between his TE and second WR, which was the difference in the game he won by 11.

Show Me Your TDs vs. Team Cromartie + 8 – WOW! That is all that really needs to be said about this game. We saw all of Show Me’s TDs this week as his team went bananas and scored 143 points! He doubled the output of his unfortunate opponent. He also left Fred Jackson’s 26 on the bench so an optimal lineup would have been even more crazy. There was nothing Cromatie could have done to overcome the point onslaught by TDs so if you are going to go down, go down big I guess.

Blount’s Blunts vs. Rock Chalk – Too many single digit performances on the scoreboard doomed Rock Chalk and dropped him to 0 – 2. Blount got on track this week for 19, but they all sat on the bench for team Blunts in addition to the 16 points from backup TE Keller. This could have been even more of an ass beating with an optimal lineup.

Goldteef Shinnin’ vs. Prestige Worldwide – Goldteef got off to a huge start and was crushing Prestige early on. Goldteef crossed the triple digit barrier, but unfortunately had to watch as Prestige mounted a crazy comeback on the backs of Miles Austin and Michael Turner. Austin blew up for 35 to get the game close and then Turner grinded out a win late in the Sunday night game. A late TD and big run gave Prestige the edge in the end. Goldteef got another lackluster performance from his team’s namesake and if he had played Fitzpatrick over Big Ben he would have made up the difference in points to pull out the W. Of course Prestige had all 29 of Maclin’s points on the bench so playing the shoulda woulda game does not usually make you feel any better. Still, throwing up triple digits will usually get you a W in this league so tough pill to swallow.

I’m Lovin’ the West Side vs. Team Grape Leaves – definitely the slimmest margin of victory this week with one point separating the two teams. West Side squeaked out the victory even though big hitters like Foster and DeSean provided a combined 5 points. Grape Leaves got TDs from each of his QB, RBs and WRs but his TE and Defense let him down. Grape Leaves could have started the Saints D and scored an easy win or he could have even just not started the Bills D and came up with a victory as the negative 3 points from the Bills just crushed his team’s hopes of the first W.

Mike Vick in a Box vs. Raw Dawg Kings – This early season re-match had a much different outcome the second time around. Box pulled out the 1 point victory in week one but got raw dawged in week 2 thanks in large part to the negative 1 from the Bears D. Getting 21 the week before was huge in securing a victory but the Bears got dumped on Bourbon Street. Ahmad Bradshaw was left standing to make up the 36 point deficit on Monday night but was not able to come close as Fitzgerald and Matthews stepped up huge for Raw Dawg this week and brought home the W and the week 1 vindication.

Move of the Week: West Side made a great call picking up the Houston D this week and dropping the woeful Rams. The 12 points he received from his defense were huge in securing the 1 point victory.

Oops of the Week: Same matchup, same position, different outcome. Grape Leaves probably wish he overslept on Sunday morning has he made the choice to pick up the Bills defense and start them for a negative 3 points. Rolling with the Saints on his bench or not even starting a defense at all would have been enough for a W.

Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Goldteef wins his first award of the year putting up triple digits, outscoring 8 other teams and getting beat by 5 points.

Team Glad they Played Who They Did: West Side wins his 2nd award of the outscoring only 4 teams out of 11 but playing one of them.

Ta Town Playas Week 2 Update

Wow so week 2 was all about point explosions. Last week's point totals were nothing as seven teams scored triple digits and three of those teams actually lost! It is one thing when you lay a goose egg or two and lose, but putting up huge numbers (even 2nd high score of the week) and losing can break a man. After two weeks there are only 2 teams with perfect records so balance is the early theme. Now we all are chasing two Stalnaker’s and not 1 this year. Get your teams fired up and bring these fools down.

Who Got the Key to My Cage? vs. Blame it on the Henny – two teams coming off a loss in week 1 decided that getting to a 100 was necessary for a win. Going into the Sunday night game Cage was leading 94 to 89 with only Philly’s kicker versus Michael Vick. At this point I assumed Henny was going to be easily sipping on his first win of the season but wow did this one get close. Vick couldn’t hang onto the ball and got knocked out of the game, but not late enough. Vick’s 13 was enough for a 2 point escape. Cage was let down for the second week by CJ giving him only 6 points. The real downfall for Cage though was his negative 1 points from the defense and 0 from the TE. Of course his other TE gave him zero as well so no roster moves could have saved him in this one. Henny made the right call going back to the Steelers this week even after the negative 6 from the week before.

A Pimp Named Slickback vs. A Team Named Suh – maybe it is Suh’s team mentality versus the individualistic nature of the Pimp, but Suh keeps rolling with solid output from most everyone on his team. He put up his second week of triple digits and Slickback became one of the three teams to throw up triple digits and lose (Slickback just threw up in his mouth) Each of Suh’s starting WRs caught TDs and his namesake’s defense dropped 21 on the now-Charlesless Chiefs. (come on Andrew Luck!) All this from Suh with Gates thowing up the big O. Slickback had Ahmad Bradshaw in the Monday nighter, but being down 25 points was a little too much and he unfortunately fell short. Not even starting Cam 400 (I am trademarking that name right now) over Schaub would have given Slickback enough.

Rusty Trombone vs. Huge Hits – well you probably did not realize it until reading this update (that is why I write them) but Rusty made some interesting roster moves this week. Both Turner and Starks were left on the bench for LT? Rusty had 3 players score 67 points and it could have been 4 players scoring 87 if Turner was starting over LT. Rusty also must be a little busy when it comes to checking WR availability as Lloyd did not start this week. Of course when your other 3 WRs on your bench combined for 2 points the options were not really there to begin with. Huge Hits got Huge games from Austin and the Jets D that made up nearly half of this total score and brought him the W.

Hide Ya Kids Hide Ya Wife vs. Jayhawk Nation – Jayhawk Nation might have come away with a victory this week, but he paid for it dearly with #1 overall pick Jamal Charles done for the year. Brady was huge again for Nation making up a third of his total points. Jordy Nelson’s one catch for 84 yards and a score though brought home the win for sure. Nothing like getting 14 points from your WR from one pass! Arian Foster might have doomed Hide Ya’s day again leaving early due to “fatigue” (a.k.a. his hammy was burning). Hide Ya also left Finley on the bench and if he had decided to play Henderson over Wayne he could have gotten a victory. How are you not trusting the Saints 4th WR option on a weekly basis?

The Blackshirts vs. Rock Chalk - Rock Chalk started off on fire with his only 3 players in the noon games putting up 74 points. Needless to say he might have been a little overconfident about securing the win. Of course The Blackshirts were putting up solid numbers as well the whole time but nothing like averaging 25 per player. Of course the late games came, Rock Chalk’s players felt like single digits were the way to go and Vincent Jackson and Fitzgerald went off late to cruise ahead on the way to 132 total points! Everyone except for The Blackshirts kicker put up double digits and Jackson’s 29 topped it all off. Rock Chalk was a little wary of Maclin so left his 29 on the bench of course, which would have guaranteed a victory. The 20 points by Gronkowski versus the 8 of Daniels also became a wrong call, and accounted for the second wrong move of the week that could have brought home a win. In the end Chalk needed 29 from Nicks and the Giants D on Monday night, gave the Blackshirts a scare early, but Nicks could not get going enough to make it count. Rock Chalk outscored everyone except The Blackshirts and took a loss because of it.

Move of the Week: Defenses are a tough spot to usually figure out but the Blackshirts successfully picked up Houston this week and played their 12 points over the -5 of the Chargers he rightfully put on the bench. That move locked down a win he would not have gotten if he stayed with his drafted defense.

Oops of the Week: Rock Chalk had 2 chances to make the correct roster move and secure a victory but missed on both. Going back and forth between Maclin and Nicks and never even thinking about playing the Gronk at TE will weigh on me the entire week.

Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Rock Chalk gets 2 awards this week though neither is wanted. Putting up 121 should get you a win 95% of the time, of course this week 2nd high score and falling into the other 5% is the story of fantasy.

Team Glad they Played Who They Did: Jayhawk Nation scored enough points to beat only 1 team this week, and luckily they played them. Seriously the fantasy gods giveth and taketh away at the same time.

Weekly Updates

Each week I will be posting updates from two of my fantasy football leagues that I am currently running, Ta Town Playas and Viva Las Vegas.  Mainly the updates review all of the matchups from the previous week.  I also hand out "awards" for some of the various oddities from the week.  I take the time to write these updates because the guys in the leagues enjoy them and it is a way to keep teams interested and hopefully laughing a little. I also find fantasy football to be both extremely cruel and mostly comical when you really evaluate all of the matchups on a weekly basis. Each week there are stories of unjust matchups, such as scoring the 2nd most points during a week only to play the high score or the inverse of scoring the 2nd fewest points and securing a victory because luck matched you against the worst team that week. Everyone plays the woulda, coulda, shoulda game and most matchups have plenty of, "if I only started this guy," outcomes. We play because it is fun and makes us feel like we have control in a completely unpredictable environment. Either way the updates are my way of bringing the insanity to life each week and reminding my leagues why we play. In the words of the great Herm Edwards,"you play to win the game"

Viva Las Vegas Week 1 Update

So each week I will provide a quick recap of the games as seen below. I have found that fantasy football provides more drama and craziness that most would imagine and it is also fun to point out how someone got crushed, got extremely lucky or downright unlucky. Have fun and check back each Tuesday for a new recap. Also, waivers clear tomorrow morning so make your moves today and submit your claims. Remember that when you use a waiver claim you head to the back of the line. The order does not reset each week to reward the biggest loser either.

Nicks Got This vs. Prestige Worldwide – The Worrell brothers squared off in week one and gave a pretty good fight. Solid output from both sides, but in the end Nicks Got This only needed an extra point on Monday night from Janikowski for the win. He got plenty more than that as Sebastian decided to tie the NFL record for longest field goal. Prestige Worldwide could have considered starting the 32 from Steve Smith over the 2 of Jeremy Maclin, but who was really trusting Cam Newton to throw for 400?

Team Grape Leaves vs. Blount’s Blunts – Other than Stafford’s 22, Grape Leaves could not put up double digits from any other player on his team this week. Even the 28 of Kenny Britt on the bench would not have been enough to overcome the smokey haze from Blount’s Blunt. Of Course Blount was the real disappointment from the Blunts and he might have to reconsider a team name change as LaGarrette is trending to score 16 total points all year! Forte’s 24 on the bench look pretty tasty moving forward and maybe drafting 3 RBs in the first 3 picks was a better move than originally thought.

I’m Lov’n the West Side vs. Goldteef Shinin’ – Besides the fact that I had to check the spelling of the team names like three times in this matchup, there was really not drama at all. That is because West Side punched PW right in his Goldteef and the fight was over. Usually when someone gets only 3 points from their kicker and defense combined that could spell trouble, but when Goldteef took a negative 7 between his kicker and defense you knew there was going to be problems.

Singletary’s Bad Dream vs. Team Cromartie + 8 – Team Cromartie had to be feeling pretty good up 23 going into Monday nights’ game. Facing Tom Brady and OchoCinco but having New England’s kicker on your side had to feel pretty safe. Of course Brady went crazy in the second half and dropped 37 and made up the difference and more! Cromartie could have used Benson’s 18 points on the bench over the 2 from Mendenhall to get the win and even a 26 points difference between his defense and Singletary’s did not provide enough to slow down Brady being Brady. Tough game to watch I am sure.

Mike Vick in a Box vs. Raw Dawg Kings – With no Monday night players this was decided Sunday night but still provided the closest matchup of the week. In the end Mike Vick stuck it in Raw Dawg’s box (sexual innuendos aplenty) and pulled out the 1 point win. Even with Nate Kaeding providing a big doughnut for Mike Vick in a Box he still got the win. In the end this game came down to defense with the 21 of the Bears being just too much for the 17 from the Eagles. Not sure that Raw Dawg could have even considered starting Jason Campbell over Matt Schaub so last year’s champ ends up going down in the first round.

Team Show Me Your TDs vs. Rock Chalk – In the end injuries might have done in Rock Chalk this week. Steven Jackson had 12 points in the first 3 minutes of the game but left with a quad injury and Dez Bryant tossed up 13 on the first series only to suffer a leg injury himself and making him pretty much worthless the rest of the game. Aaron Hernandez gave TDs all he needed on Monday night to pull away and get the week one win.

Move of the Week: Usually in the first week it is all about putting in your starters you drafted and go to war. But Mike Vick in the box decided on playing Greg Olsen and his 7 points and leaving Owen Daniels on the bench with his 1. This was by far a great call going with the unknown QB in Cam versus the known in Schaub versus the Manningless Colts. Great call.

Oops of the Week: Prestige Worldwide should have made a call to Mike Vick in a Box and hopped on the Cam train because he left all 32 of Steve Smith on the bench for Maclin who took his first snaps of the year in this game.

Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Despite outscoring 7 other teams, Rock Chalk took a loss to the high scorer of the week. Suck it Cam

Team Glad they Played Who They Did: I’ Lov’n the West Side could have only beaten 2 of 11 teams this week and drew one of them in Goldteef Shinin’. Matchups mean everything and sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

Enjoy the posts, make those moves and Viva Las Vegas!

Ta Town Players Week 1 Update

So the first week is in the books and it was a pretty explosive week for most. Four teams already crossed the triple digit mark and all the matches ended up with some monday night drama. Waivers clear tomorrow morning so make sure to submit any roster moves and remember that when you make a waiver claim you head to the back of the line. They do not reset every week based on who is the biggest loser.

A Team Named Suh vs. Jayhawk Nation - Wow, so of all the games on the schedule tonight this was the only one I wrote off. I mean Brady is good but no way he scores 37 points. I was right, but scoring 34 is ridiculous. Jayhawk Nation might be regretting his choice of 9th round defense that got him negative four points, but the kicker (pun intended) is that Nate Kaeding goes out with an ACL without ever scoring a point. This probably should have been a Jayhawk Nation win, but instead it looks like the Nation might continue his bad luck of playing high score of the week.

Blame it on the Henny vs. A Pimp Name Slickback - A rematch of the 3rd place game last year and Twig looked pretty much in control being up 24 going against Welker and the Patriots D. Everything looked good until the second half blew up with Welker going bananas and dropping 28 leaving the Pimp drinking all the Henny he wants. Twig might have been able to avoid this had he decided for Benson's 18 over Greene's 2 or playing the 22 points of Baltimore D versus the negative 6 he got from Pittsburgh. Week 1 was cruel.

Huge Hits vs. Hide ya Kids Hide ya Wife - Huge Hits only needed 8 points going into the final game of the week with Moreno left. Would have thought it would be pretty easy, but Moreno decided on fumbling early and gaining 4 yards on 5 carries. From there it was slow sledding and only ended up with 3 of the 8 points. Huge Hits left Meachem and Austin on his bench who both outscored by themselves the production of Deangelo Williams, Roddy White and Manningham. Ouch. Of course Hide ya had all 29 of Steve Smith's points on the bench as well so can't feel too bad for Huge Hits.

The Blackshirts vs. Rusty Trombone - This matchup had a lot of drama going into Sunday night with Rusty up 3. Of course Hernandez got going late and gave Blackshirts 16. That meant that Rusty would need Lloyd to have a huge night to overcome the 13 point hole while hoping Janikowski pulled a Nate Kaeding. Instead the beast that is Sebastian tied the NFL record with a 63 yard field goal along with 11 other points. Neither guy had a lot on their bench so it was all starters in this one and the 57 from the Blackshirts 3 RBs did the trick.

Rock Chalk vs. Who Got the Key to My Cage? Solid and steady output from the entire team of Rock Chalk allowed him to put up triple digits even after Steven Jackson left 3 plays into the game (thank you for the 47 yard TD run at least) Cage had studs like CJ and Bowe not show up and the Bears D put up 21 to keep it honest. McFadden played in the late game to provide a little late night drama, but without any TDs to his name McFadden could not make up the difference.

Move of the Week: It was the first week so not much to really say here. I will give the weekly honor to our newcomer, A Team Named Suh, since he dropped the highest total of the week.

Oops of the Week: Jayhawk Nation wins the award by drafting and starting the KC defense, which gave him negative 4 points and losing by just 3. Blame it on the Henny gets an honorable mention also starting the negative 6 of the Steelers and losing by 10.

Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Jayhawk Nation of course. Putting up triple digits and taking a loss to the high score of the week is pretty rough.

Team Glad they Played Who They Did: Hide ya Kids got a win this week despite only outscoring 1 team in the league. Sometimes it is all in the matchups.
