Week 5 brought the bye weeks and points scored started to suffer. Only one team dropped triple digits and the matchups got closer. The standings are starting to show more separation so make sure you have your optimal lineup to get those W’s.
As a reminder all trades require five vetoes to be voided. Please check the boards often as desperate teams may make desperate moves to get back in the race.
Nicks Got This vs. Cromartie + 8 – Nicks Got This played an optimal lineup and still came up short in this matchup. Going into Monday night Nicks held an 84 to 58 point lead, but Cromartie still had his big guns in Forte and CJ. Nicks had to be loving the way the first quarter was playing out and then a 76 yard TD to CJ turned the tides and from there Cromartie was able to pick up plenty of points to secure the victory and put both teams at 3 – 2.
Team Grape Leaves vs. Mike Vick in a Box – Another Monday night closer affair with Grape Leaves having Stafford remaining and down 12. Of course Stafford was on the throwing end of the CJ TD bomb and Grape Leaves came up with enough points to grab his second win of the season. The negative 1 point from Ryan Grant looked like it might be the difference maker in the matchup, but in the end Grape Leaves made a great call of defenses playing the Bills 16 points against the Eagles versus the Saints 4 against the Panthers. Tough call and one that one him the matchup for sure. DeAngelo Williams over Sproles could have saved Mike Vick in a Box, but seeing how DWill had performed up to this point it would have been hard to make that decision.
Singletary’s Bad Dream vs. Prestige Worldwide – Singletary’s Bad Dream once again chose Reggie Wayne over Garcon and left an additional 20 points on the bench because of it. Of course the rest of his team stepped up big including the nice play of Victor Cruz to secure a win. Prestige put up solid points from his RBs and WRs and even the 17 of Ward or 16 from Lynch on the bench would not have made a difference in this matchup. Josh Freeman did Worldwide no favors and he watched as his team slipped to 1 – 4.
I’m Lov’n the West Side vs. Raw Dawg Kings – The 3rd Sunday night matchup with some intrigue. West Side was down 13 with only Best to go and after the way the first half went Raw Dawg had to be feeling pretty good. Of course one 88 yard TD run by Best and that was all that was needed to bring home win number four for the West Side. Even though there were 53 points on Raw Dawg’s bench, none of them could have helped him overcome this week as 51 were from his two QBs on the bench. Of course his starter also through up 25. Might be time to start shopping QBs.
Goldteef Shinin’ vs. Team Show Me Your TDs – this was a low scoring affair and Goldteef probably can’t believe all of the choices he could have made to get him a win. TDs got his 4th win of the season despite low outputs from most everyone on his team. Goldteef though could not see into the future and realize that a hobbled Big Ben is exactly who you want starting because he is for sure going to have a career day. Fitzpatrick put up a mediocre performance and the 19 additional points from Roethlisberger sat on the bench. Shinin’s receiver choice of Lloyd is probably haunting him a little too as AJ Green or Branch could have saved his day and brought home a victory.
Blount’s Blunts vs. Rock Chalk – 2 massive performances from AP and D Bowe brought home the fifth win of the season for Blount’s Blunts and put him alone atop the leaderboard. Single digits from the rest of his team was enough to fight back Rock Chalk and drop him into last place all alone yet to get a win. Of course the NFL has the “Suck for Luck” campaign and Rock Chalk must be doing the same being that the last place team gets the first pick in the draft next season… (did you just spit out your drink and scream bull shit at the computer screen?) This is not the NFL people and just making sure you were still reading! I do not reward losers in this league, even if that loser is myself. Rock Chalk is looking to go on a unprecedented 8 win streak to storm into the playoffs so watch out Raw Dawg, you are first on the hit list.
Move of the Week: As mentioned above the great defensive call by Team Grape Leaves with the Bills over the Saints was the difference in his matchup and securing a win.
Oops of the Week: Goldteef Shinin’ had some tough calls that bit him hard and lost by just 6 points, but when there are over 50 points on your bench from different positions you are definitely kicking yourself on Tuesday.
Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Raw Dawg Kings put up a solid 91 and could have beaten 8 other teams in the league this week but ended up playing high score and found himself at 2 – 3. Kings might have to get a little luckier if he wants to get a shot at defending his title.
Team Glad they Played Who They Did: Team Show Me Your TDs could have only beaten one single team in the league this week and he just happened to play him. This is not a fair game and sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.
