The bye weeks are upon us and the overall points being scored definitely went down. Only 2 teams cracked the 100 and two teams in the same matchup struggled to get over 100 combined. Some close matchups and overall the standings got even tighter this week with five teams within a half game of first. It is early, but total points could end up breaking some ties for playoff spots if we stay this competitive.
Rusty Trombone vs. Who Got the Key to My Cage? – Close matchup and Cage has to be so happy about his new trade. (Pinkshirts appears to be happy about it as well) Who Got the Key to My Cage? got a quick 30 from newly acquired AP and all 3 of his WRs went off for a total of 49 points. He also got a nice 13 from his pickup of the Bengals D. He decided though to keep it close and roll out Kyle Orton and his negative one point giving Rusty Trombone some hope late. Rusty was down 47 points but had Rodgers, Turner and the Packers D so he was definitely still in the hunt. Unfortunately he fell just short of the dramatic Sunday night comeback. Rusty is still having problems picking starting RBs each week going again with LT and leaving the 9 of Pierre Thomas on the bench. He also did not see the 2 TD performance of Hines Ward coming (no one did) and instead got only 5 points combined from Lloyd and Rice. Tough loss all around.
Hide Ya Kids Hide Ya Wife vs. Blame it on the Henny – Hide Ya Kids had great performances from his 3 RBs pulling together a combined 60 points. Hide Ya actually played an optimal lineup on his way to high score of the week and a big win over Henny. Henny was left with Megatron going on Monday night, but not even the mighty Decepticon (I just watched the 3rd Transformers) could overcome a 43 points deficit. Henny played the wrong Bengal and also left Flloyd’s first useful game of the season on the bench in the loss. A solid output but not enough to get to the top of the standings.
A Pimp Named Slickback vs. The Pinkshirts – still going with the Pinkshirts after that comeback win over the Buckeyes? Slickback put up a respectable 90 on the backs of Cam Newton and his Russian kicker. Welker propped up Slickback’s WR core, which pretty much consists of Welker and whatever, and came through with plenty to hold off the Pinkshirts. The Pinkshirts of course were playing with a makeshift crew of players due to Ray Rice, Dez and Hightower all being on bye. Ridley was not the pickup he was looking for and his big name receivers in Fitz and VJ put up single digits for the week. Fitzpatrick also brought only 9 to the table so it looks as though the Pinkshirts may be playing who is the QB of the week for the rest of the season. Good luck with that.
Jayhawk Nation vs. Huge Hits – Huge Hits continued his streak of playing the right matchup that week and came away with another win. Outside of Jayhawk Nation and The Pinkshirts bye-week massacre, he would not have been able to get a win this week. But everything lined up even with the 17 points from DWill on his bench. Jayhawk Nation though made a costly defensive decision this week that became a 30 point swing! Funny enough the two defenses were playing each other this week and Nation went the wrong way with the Bucs over the 49ers. This one easy switch would have gotten Nation an easy win after Forte put up X on Monday night. Nation’s team just laid down this week as he received only 6 total points from 6 player spots! Brutal loss.
Rock Chalk vs. A Team Named Suh – Going into Monday night A Team Named Suh held a 73 to 56 point lead with Suh having the Lions D and kicker against the Lions QB and RB. For anyone who watched the first quarter of this game, first let me say I am sorry because that was brutal. It was not looking good at all for Rock Chalk until Best ripped off an 88 yard TD run to pull slightly ahead. From there Best was able to continue adding to his total getting over 160 for the game and became the true difference maker for Rock Chalk. Even after a trade that netted him fewer points he was able to escape with the win. A Team Named Suh could not have done anything to stop the final outcome of this game as his bench was either hurt of on bye and even with his optimal lineup he fell short.
Move of the Week: Who Got the Key to My Cage? made a timely trade that netted him a big win. AP and Maclin came up huge and without the trade, Cage? would still have been stuck on one win for the season.
Oops of the Week: Jayhawk Nation wins the award by flipping a coin and ending up with the wrong defense this week. A 30 point swing based on a stupid defense! Fantasy can be so cruel.
Team that Wish They Played Someone Else: Rusty Trombone ended up playing the second highest score of the week when he was 3rd and took a tough loss.
Team Glad they Played Who They Did: Huge Hits decided 69 points was enough to secure his 3rd win of the season and he was right. What is even more crazy is that this 3rd win put Hits in a first place tie for the season while sitting 2nd to last in points.
