for lining up DraftMasters at www.myfantasyleague.com, as they are the basis for my data
to date. Other sites such as Fantasy Football Calculator are solid sources for ADP data later in the season,
but now most drafts on their site are filled with computer selections. If you have interest in participating in a
DraftMaster, simply look Jim up on Twitter.
I now am aggregating results from 15
different DraftMasters and the basic scoring is 4 points per passing TD, 6
points for rushing/receiving and 1 point per reception. Rookies were introduced into the pool of
available players by the start of the 7th DraftMaster, so we are able
to see what perceived value guys like Lacy hold even before joining a
team. The sample size is small but still
enough to get an early read on where the fantasy community values certain
players. I will continue to update their
progress in the coming days so check back often. Below are the current top 60 picks with
ADP’s.
Quick Notes:
1. Adrian Peterson was finally not taken
1st overall in the 11th DraftMaster. Doug Martin grabbed the #1 spot and in the
same league Foster was taken 2nd while AP fell to 3rd.
2. Arian Foster remains the #2 overall
pick 80% of the time and has never fallen farther than 4th overall.
3. After being drafted an average of 5th
overall in the first 8 DraftMasters, Calvin Johnson has fallen back being
drafted an average of 9th overall in the most recent 7. Interesting change in strategy and actually
saw someone’s first 3 picks go Calvin, AJ and Percy.
4. Doug Martin remains the average 3rd
overall RB taken in drafts, but Spiller jumped 3 spots and sits right behind
Martin.

Rodgers
remains the first QB taken overall with an ADP
of 22.5. Brees is second at an ADP of 31.9 and Newton comes in at 43.2. Brady currently is the 4th QB off
the board one spot behind Newton. I will
point out that most people participating in these DraftMasters are more
seasoned and obviously have a fantasy
football addiction that Denny Carter so perfectly described for the NY Times. As we move closer to August and compile data
from your more regular fantasy football players these QBs will not last nearly
as long.
6. Randall Cobb is coming off the board
as the 9th WR with an ADP of 32.6.
This seems high, particularly when you consider you can grab Jordy 17
picks later. Frank DuPont (@FantasyDouche) weighed
in on Cobb earlier and it comes down to a usage question on where to value
the WR.
7. Steven Jackson is available around
the end of round 4 with an ADP of 48.2 and the 22nd overall RB
taken. Depending on whether he stays
with the Rams or moves on to a team like the Packers or Steelers will dictate
his value.
8. Eddie Lacy is being drafted currently
with an ADP of 53 and the 24th overall RB. There are a lot of unknowns including which
team he will play for in 2013, but I would expect his ADP to continue to rise
into the summer.
9. Colin Kaepernick is currently the 5th
QB taken overall with an ADP of 55.
There will be a lot of discussion around QBs and when they will start
coming off the board. Looking at guys
like Peyton, Ryan and even Wilson whose ADP is 24 spots behind the 49ers QB makes
value and expected return from a 5th or 6th round pick an
interesting debate.
